Coronavirus FAQ

The following information is provided for 2nd Gordon Scouts members and their families to understand how we are addressing COVID-19, and to provide links to the Scouts NSW Response to COVID-19.

Scouts NSW is conforming with and taking direction from the Federal and NSW government policy, and has a Coronavirus Task Force that ensures we are providing a healthy and safe Scouting in a pandemic environment. The latest announcements and advice can be viewed on the Scouts NSW Response to COVID-19 web page.

To ensure 2nd Gordon can resume face-to-face scouting and utilise our hall in a safe manner, we have developed a COVID-19 plan and checklist that has been approved by Scouts NSW. Procedures on this page may change without notice as policies are updated.

Before meeting
o Hall will be cleaned and prepped as per cleaning record sheet
o Table with sanitiser will be in place outside the front door
o Standardised Attendance Record Sheet is being used
o Posters are in place as a reminder of maintaining hygiene and social distancing
o Cleaning records will be completed and signed off

Arrival and attendance recording
o Parents should stay in their cars (unless they need to talk to a a Leader) and should not enter hall
o For younger members we will walk them to the entrance for road safety reasons
o Attendance record will be completed by one leader outside hall
o Social distancing will be reinforced before entry
o One leader to ensure everyone sanitises hands before entering

Isolation of people showing symptoms
o Youth and parents must not attend if they have any symptoms
o If someone in the house is awaiting a test result, family member should not attend
o If symptoms are present, youth members will not be allowed to enter the hall, and a parents/guardian will be contacted for pick up
o Confirmed cases will be reported to Regional Scout Commissioner, and an WHS incident form completed

During meetings
o Social distancing will be maintained – no physical contact between members
o No shared equipment
o No food prep or shared food
o Paper towels only – no tea towels or hand towels

After meetings
o Hall to be tidied and cleaned as per Cleaning Record Sheet
o Post-meeting cleaning record will be marked and signed off
o Attendance record will be checked for completeness and stored for 28 days
